This is really quite a rare piece. Wilson Line Shipping was founded in 1882 and then brought by Sir John Reeves Ellerman in 1916 - reputably the richest man in England at the time. You can see his initials on the flag.
Dated to around 1920's - hand painted with a fantastic patina to both the frame and the artwork. Please look at the pictures to see a few knocks and scrapes here and there.
We also love the back of this where you can see the sign writer has used an old sign from the jewellery quarter.
