19th Century Italian Painted Blue Sideboard
A wonderfully characterful 19th century Italian sideboard, newly painted in Tuscany by my artisan furniture painter friend Gianni using traditional layered techniques to create a soft timeworn finish full of depth and authentic patina.
Finished in a muted powder blue and soft black with subtle distressing and aged detailing, the piece retains all the charm and proportions of the original antique.
A versatile piece that would work beautifully in a kitchen, dining room, sitting room or hallway, offering practical storage whilst acting as a strong decorative focal point. The shelves are even lined with the original tuscan wallpaper, often seen in old Italian homes.
The contrast of introducing an antique painted piece like this into a cleaner contemporary interior works especially well, bringing warmth, texture and soul to a space without feeling overly traditional.
Made from pine, a few characterful bumps and scrapes and generally in very good sturdy condition.
