Early 20th-Century French Oak and Pine Farmhouse Table
An early 20th-century French farmhouse table with an unusual combination of a solid oak trestle base and a pine plank top. The shaped supports are joined by a central stretcher and secured with traditional wedged construction.
Reportedly sourced from a mountainous region, the lighter pine top was used because carrying a heavy oak top uphill would have been impractical. The table has a warm, time-worn finish and a strong, architectural form.
