Italian Painted Sideboards Made from 18th-Century Timber

A wonderful pair of Italian painted sideboards, newly made using reclaimed 18th-century Italian timber, with a beautifully aged finish in soft off-white and faded blue-grey.

Made by our talented friend Fabrizio in Florence, who has spent years collecting old architectural elements and salvaged timber to create his furniture. The age and character of the wood lend themselves particularly well to his traditional decorative painting techniques, with all the old imperfections, irregularities and texture giving the paintwork a wonderful depth and richness. Fabrizio has a lovely eye for colour and uses some rather unusual techniques to achieve his finishes, even incorporating espresso coffee in places to add warmth and age to the paintwork.

Beautifully proportioned, with raised panelled doors, decorative mouldings and simple carved feet, these are wonderfully versatile pieces that would work equally well as sideboards, hallway cupboards or bedside storage in a larger room. The contrast between the old timber and the newly applied decorative finish gives them all the charm of antique furniture, while being in fantastic condition.
