19th Century Carnival Wheel
Sold
This is fantastic ! It is made in two sections with the top wheel rotating on a spindle. To make this an interesting decorative piece we have joined the two separate pieces together.
We believe it is 19th century and part of a fairground game, presumably the 'user' would have guessed what number the game stopped on much like a roulette wheel.
There are coins attached to the wheel, one of which dates to 1708. Masses of natural distressing / patina to the original paint finish. Some old re-treated woodworm.
