English Gothic Carved Oak Church Panel

An unusual English carved oak panel, believed to date from the late 15th or early 16th century and understood to have come from a church.

The panel is decorated with Gothic tracery, including a foliate quatrefoil, a wheel-like rosette and intersecting cusped forms. It may once have formed part of a church screen or another piece of ecclesiastical woodwork.

It has been mounted in a more recent painted wooden frame, originally used as a mould of some sort, which has its own patina in the corners.
