Collection of Early 20th Century Spanish Librillo Bowls

Unsurprisingly these have been snapped up very quickly - so i have been in touch with my contact in Spain who has just sent me this message !!!  I have more arriving hopefully by the end of May....

They belonged to a man who was imprisoned in Figueres Castle from 1940 to 1948 as a result of the Spanish Civil War. He learned the potter's trade, and when he was released, he bought a pottery workshop in Figueres and dedicated himself to making basins and collecting them. Later, he had a shop catering to tourists, and in the winter he made pottery, which he didn't sell; he collected it and gave it away. My children and I are selling them off. I can't say how many pieces there are of each type; it's very laborious to count them. In total, there are more than 700, yes, more than 700, all unused and some with unpolished rims.

Please let me know if you have any interest.

Unlike the much earlier 18th century examples, these are early 20th century pieces, making them more practical and accessible for decorative use while still retaining genuine age and charm.

We have added discreet cord hoops to the reverse so they are ready to hang and easy to style as a group installation or as individual statement pieces.

Beautiful displayed in kitchens, garden rooms, hallways or relaxed Mediterranean-inspired interiors.

50 cm diameter x 15 h.
