Pair of Late 19th-Century Spanish Miravet Olive Pots from Tarragona

This characterful NEAR pair of Spanish olive pots dates from the late 19th century and originates from Tarragona. Known as Miravet pots, vessels of this type were traditionally made for the storage of olives and other agricultural produce.

Both pots have generously rounded, hand-fashioned forms with substantial rims and applied carrying handles. Their warm, earthy colouring is enriched by areas of amber-brown glaze, natural surface variation and the patina acquired through age and use. Although closely related, the two pots are individually formed and display their own distinctive markings and character.

These are a perfect size for house plants.
