Large 1920s French Painted Shop Counter with Drawers
A large French double-sided shop counter dating from around the 1920s, sourced in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue in the south of France. Finished in its original off-white paint, with a wonderful aged patina and plenty of character throughout.
A beautifully proportioned piece, with an interesting arrangement of small and large drawers, recessed handles and a glass top. The original paint has worn away in places, revealing the wood beneath and giving it a lovely timeworn appearance. Being double-sided makes it particularly versatile, and its generous proportions would make it equally at home as a large kitchen island, shop counter or freestanding storage piece.
In good condition for its age, with plenty of wear, marks, scratches and areas of missing paint, all contributing to its character.
